Future of Cities: Seeking Health + Sustainability Conference 2017

The 2017 Future of Cities Conference, jointly hosted by the Western Riverside Council of Governments, UCR Center for Sustainable Suburban Development, and APA Inland Empire Section will focus on the nexus between health, economy, and sustainability with transportation, the built environment, and changing demographics.  The conference will include three moderated panel discussions focused on distilling insights in these topics and highlighting opportunities to turn lessons into action.

This panel will cover development of the built environment, paying special attention to the rapid growth anticipated for the region, historic patterns of sprawl, and opportunities to institute best practices.

10:10 a.m. Future of Transportation

This panel will cover best practices and how to prepare for and/or encourage active transportation, transit, and autonomous vehicles.

This panel will discuss changing demographics with a focus on the wants, needs, habits, and misconceptions of millennials.

1:00 p.m. Wrap Up

Moderators from our three panels will reconvene on the stage to distill the lessons of the day and discuss how to turn these lessons into action in our professional and personal lives.

UCR Liability Waiver: 

UCR is hosting the Future of Cities Conference at the UCR Bourns Technology Center Auditorium. To utilize the venue, all registrants will be required to sign a liability waiver. In order to save time when you arrive, please fill out and sign your liability waiver in advance. Waivers can be brought to the event at check-in or emailed to Andrea Howard, IES-APA Co-Vice Chair of Programs, at Howard@wrcog.cog.ca.us. The check-in desk will also have liability waivers on hand for those who wish to sign their waivers at the event.
